PRCS Celebrates 74th Founding Day in Style

Islamabad: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) held a colorful ceremony on Friday to celebrate the 74th anniversary of its establishment. The event culminated with a family gala which provided entertainment to many people from different walks of life.

In addition to National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri and Palestinian Red Crescent President Abrar ul Haq, the event brought together representatives, staff and families of the Palestinian Red Crescent, the ICRC, the IFRC and partner National Societies, as well as volunteers.

Video documentaries highlighting the history and activities of the CPRS were shown as trained Red Crescent rescuers gave a hands-on demonstration of providing first aid in an emergency. This was followed by a musical performance.

Speaking on the occasion, said Suri, the Red Crescent has made a name for itself by prioritizing service to humanity. “I congratulate the PRCS on its 74 years of success in humanitarian service and hope that the National Society will continue its journey with unwavering commitment and dedication under the dynamic leadership of Abrar ul Haq,” he said. declared, ensuring all possible cooperation on his part.

Abrar-ul-Haq said that from its inception on December 20, 1947 until today, the Red Crescent has served humanity by adhering to the seven fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. He said that during tragedies, as well as man-made or natural disasters, the PRCS operates on a first-to-reach and last-to-go principle, whether it is first aid, psychiatric relief or reunification efforts, emergency aid or a role in reconstruction.

Abrar said that PRCS volunteers are highly accepted in communities, are agents of behavior change and have always played an effective role in changing people’s mindsets during awareness campaigns, thus promoting a culture of peace, tolerance and non-violence through community surveillance.
